Annual Spelling Bee

Thank you to all who participated in the Adult Spelling Bee! W. Jesse Gurganus Elementary School is No. 1!!! Congratulations to our top spellers! Havelock Middle School came in second, and Graham A. Barden Elementary School was a very close third. Best Costume is W. Jesse Gurganus Elementary School, Best Name is Havelock Middle School (S.A.D. - Dyslexic Assoc. of Spellers), and First Team Out is Roger Bell Elementary School.

The Adult Spelling Bee on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, was a HUGE Success. We
had 17 teams participate and everyone had a great time. A portion of
the proceeds raised at the Adult Spelling Bee will be presented to the
local Havelock schools at the Excellence in Education Breakfast on
Tuesday, May 3 @ 7:30am  

Tucker Creek Middle School won the Spelling Bee for the 3rd year in
a row. Craven Community College placed 2nd and Annunciation Catholic
School was third place. The first team out was the Green Machine from
MCAS Cherry Point. The Best Costume was BeeAttitude. The
Best Name was "Punk" tuation. 

A special Thanks to First Carolina, REALTORS, George and Kat Cook,
VA Mortgage, H & R Block, Baldree's tires, Early College East High School,
Tagg, Little Caesar's, Marine Federal Credit Union, Havelock News,
Rice's Rentaland, Super Tire, Cherry Point Chiropractic, X-Team Termite
