. At Carteret General Hospital, fifty six active staff physicians, 45 consulting physicians and 12 visiting/courtesy physicians cover a comprehensive range of specialties work with a staff of approximately 1,000 medical and support personnel. The hospital has 135 licensed beds. 

Craven Diagnostic Center is CarolinaEast Health System's outpatient diagnostic service in New Bern. State of the art MRI, CT scanning, mammography, ultrasound, X-ray, nuclear medicine and other diagnostic services are provided in this convenient, comfortable setting. Craven Surgery center, located at the heart of the thriving McCarthy Square medical community in New Bern, is the area’s premier outpatient surgery facility. 

The Marine’s rescue helicopters frequently aid people here putting victims within minutes of Pitt Memorial Hospital, the regional trauma center in Greenville, which operates its own fleet of rescue helicopters. 

General dentistry and orthodontics is offered by six practitioners or groups within the city. 

The Havelock Rescue Squad’s fleet of lifesaving ambulances is on standby 24 hours a day. Staffed by state-certified emergency technicians, the rescue squad serves a broad region of eastern Craven County.
