The Havelock Chamber’s Salute to the Vets event is an opportunity for the greater Havelock community to celebrate and honor the legacy, camaraderie, bravery, and excellence of our local veterans and active-duty service members. “This dinner presents a chance to thank veterans and active-duty folks and have fun at the same time," said Maj. Gen. Thomas A. Braaten, USMC retired. Braaten delighted everyone as the evening's Master of Ceremonies.

Along with Maj. Gen. Braaten, USMC retired, guests heard from LtGen Walter Gaskin, USMC Retired, Secretary for the North Carolina Department of Military & Veterans Affairs and the 2d MAW Marine Corps Brass Quintet. The event included a plated dinner from Strange & Sons, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and a stirring cake-cutting ceremony.
