On July 26th, the Havelock Military Affairs Committee honored LCpl Anthony Guerrero as the Military Service Person of the Quarter. Members of the Havelock MAC, the City of Havelock, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Command, including Col. Mikel R. Huber, and Marines from the MALS-14 Supply assembled at Hancock Lodge aboard MCAS Cherry Point to celebrate LCpl Guerrero's volunteerism with a luncheon and awards presentation.
LCpl Guerrero was selected from amongst his peers as the Military Service Person of the Quarter for volunteering throughout Havelock in various ways such as: serving as head coach of the Havelock Youth Soccer Association, VFW Post, the 2021 MCAS Cherry Point Air Show, and assisted the SMP with the setup and break down of the Summer Bash.
The event began Col. Huber sharing a few words about the Havelock Military Affairs Committee’s partnership with MCAS Cherry Point and LCpl Guerrero’s exemplary volunteerism. Then those in attendance enjoyed a fajita bar buffet from Mucho Bueno Street Food & Tequila. When everyone had finished their lunch, MAC Chairman, James Hunter and, Havelock Chamber Executive Director, Erin Knight began the awards presentation. City Commissioner, Brenda Wilson read an official proclamation on behalf of Havelock Mayor Will Lewis for LCpl Guerrero. With the official proclamation, The City of Havelock also presented LCpl Guerrero with a gift of appreciation. Various Havelock businesses donated gifts which were presented to LCpl Guerrero. To conclude the awards, Hunter and Knight presented LCpl Guerrero with a plaque and check from the Havelock MAC in appreciation for his contributions to our community.
